181 Absalom's Pillar
Absalom's Pillar is located in the Valley of Kidron. Absalom was a rebellious son of King David. According to
the Bible he built a pillar for his memorial stone so that he would be remembered. "18 Now Absalom in his
lifetime had taken and reared up for himself a pillar, which is in the king's dale: for he said, I have no son
to keep my name in remembrance: and he called the pillar after his own name: and it is called unto this
day, Absalom's place." (2 Samuel 18:18). Even though this tomb is dated to the First Century A.D.
and Absalom lived around 1000 B.C. Jews still throw stones at the pillar
because Absalom rebelled against his father King David.
